Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Scout is 2 years old and 30 pounds.

With his natural black and white tuxedo and his movie star smile people can't pass Scout by without an adoring comment. Scout is always ready for a fun adventure with his human. Whether it's a hike in the woods, a simple walk in the neighborhood, or playtime in the backyard. Scout loves to play with other dogs. But his energy level can be a bit overwhelming to some playmates. He is becoming more aware of signals from his buddies when they have had enough. He does need to be reminded periodically, therefore if there is a resident dog we will require a testing period to make sure it is a workable situation for both dogs. After a trip to the dog park or an extended walk Scout is ready to curl up on a comfortable chair or dog bed for a well-deserved nap.

Like a true Basenji, Scout is loyal and protective. He bonds deeply with his people and loves to give kisses, hugs, and cuddles. He is calm and quiet in the house and can be left alone without worry for relatively short periods of time. Although he will let you know how much he missed you when you return! The changes Scout has experienced losing his home have been hard for him to understand. He thrives in a routine home that provides for him a sense of security. This bundle of happiness is always content to be by his people, curling up and sleeping next to them at bedtime.

Scout isn't great with young children due to their rapid movements which scare him. Scout knows basic commands, is neutered, housebroken, has good house manners, and he's leash trained. He doesn't like a closed crate but will take some time alone in an open crate with a comfortable bed. Scout is anxious to find his forever home and will reward his humans with love and devotion.
