Otter is an eight-month-old, forty-three-pound German Shephard and Hound mix. He is good with dogs, good with kids, and we have not tested him with cats.  A goofy funny shepherd, Otter loves dogs and just about anyone he meets. We rescued him on the day he was supposed to be euthanized at an overcrowded shelter. He is healthy, bouncy, energetic, smart and very loveable. A very good-natured dog. Please be aware, Hounds require daily exercise and mental stimulation. He would be a great family dog, especially if you have a dog playmate for him and a fenced yard so they can romp around together. Otter needs a good walk or hike daily to help him work off his puppy energy. He cannot be crated, he panics. Otter will probably be about fifty-five pounds. If you know and love shepherd's intelligence and loyalty this dog is for you. Apply at crisisdogsnc.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls, no emails. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed assessments are based on visual appearances.
