I've found my furever family!

We're happy to tell you that Mila has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

One year old Mila is a gorgeous red coated Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever mix, forty-five pounds. This lovely young lady is good with other dogs, but she is very timid. Loud noises and barking dogs scare her. We suspect severe abuse; she flattens herself in fear when on walks if she hears a loud noise or a dog barking. Mila is healthy and fully vetted and once she feels safe, she will come out of her shell and blossom into the characteristics of her breed mix: smart, loyal, playful, and absolutely no aggression. We do not suggest kids since the noise and activity that comes with children playing could scare her. This is what Mila's foster has to say about her time with Mila:  Mila is doing great; we just love her!  I can’t speak for my three dogs that, but they are doing well with Mila. After a couple of weeks Mila is really coming out of her shell. She is lovable, playful and learning commands. Mila has started to respect the boundaries of our three other dogs and there have been no altercations in over a week now. Mila would do well with someone who has a confident/playful dog and a fenced in backyard. She is very scared of the outside world, although we are working with her on walking and leash training.  We are taking it slow. Apply at crisisdogsnc.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We prefer a fenced yard, but this is not required for all of our dogs. We transport by land or air whenever possible.
