Gentle and elegant Miss Lucille was set for euthanasia at a crowded rural shelter but we got her out and into a foster home. This is a darling dog, 40 pounds, about 2 years old, puppy-like, and a sure fit if you are a hound lover. Lucille doesn't seem interested in cats, she is fine with other dogs, loves to play, and also cuddles up with them. Scared of loud sounds, she is a lounger, quiet, respectful, well mannered. She does need some leash work. Her foster writes: 'Lucille loves men! Always wagging her tail at my husband. Nice dog, a great companion.' Apply on CrisisDogsNC.org. Excellent vet reference and virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We prefer a fenced yard but this is not required for all our dogs. We transport by land or air whenever possible.
