Shih Tzus are affectionate and loyal and have a playful yet calm personality. They can even live up to 16 years! Shih Tzus do require more grooming care but shed less around the home. Shih Tzus are the ultimate companion dogs—loving, loyal, and always ready to curl up beside you.

BuddyBear is the definition of a gentle soul. This sweet boy is house trained, has excellent manners, and sleeps peacefully through the night in his cozy bed. While he’s crate trained and will settle in when needed, he’d much rather be near his person—he’s happiest when he’s part of the family, soaking up affection and companionship.
BuddyBear’s Favorite Things:
• Lounging on the back deck in the sunshine
• Snuggling with his humans or calm doggie friends
• Playing with his stuffed toys
• Exploring the yard with curiosity and joy
• Showing off his adorable energy bursts—especially at dinnertime!
Special Care Needs:
BuddyBear has limited vision due to mild eye scleritis and corneal pigmentation, and he’s recovering from ear infections—so he’ll need daily eye medications with Optimmune and weekly ear cleanings. He’s also bounced back beautifully from a successful surgery to remove a non-cancerous abdominal mass. Despite these needs, he’s a low-maintenance guy who just wants to be loved.

BuddyBear would thrive in an adult-only home or one with gentle, older children. He’d love a laid-back doggie companion and a human who’s committed to his ongoing care. In return, he’ll offer endless cuddles, quiet companionship, and the kind of love only a dog can give.
