Salty is a 4 month old, 7 lbs Dachshund mix.
Little Salty had a rough start in life. He was left outside and did not experience any human touch for the first several months of his life. He has come a long way now and in his loving and patient foster home, he has learned to accept pets and lets his foster mom gently hold him. He is really learning to trust and starting to accept that people are loving and good. He has even started snuggling up with his foster mom at bedtime under the blankets! He is an absolute sweetheart despite all he has been through and with time, we know he will be a happy, confident dog. He is a flight risk because of his fear, so a fenced/secure yard is a must. He is does well in his crate at bedtime too. He loves other dogs and having another dog for confidence would be a plus in his new home! He will need a patient adopter who can work with him. He is very submissive and needs proper training and socialization including how to walk on a leash. When he feels safe, he loves to play and it's the sweetest thing to see! Salty hopes that his new family comes for him soon so he can grow up in a loving, stable home where he is loved and is given the chance to blossom into a happy, healthy and confident dog!
