Karma is 1.5 years old, 17 lbs., and a Chihuahua mix.
Karma came into the Crisis family as a very scared pup who is now learning what it’s like to be part of a family, that humans aren’t bad, and that not all new experiences are scary. Once she has had time to decompress and learn to trust, you will have a little goofball who is growing into a confident dog. She is great on a leash but is still getting used to being outside of the home. When walking, she typically ignores dogs and people but loves to chase frogs. She loves to be with her people and will follow them everywhere. Being new to home life, she is working on potty-training and does very well if taken out regularly. Karma is now in puppy class and is learning sit, wait, off, loose leash walking, drop-it, leave-it and she is getting used to new environments. She does enjoy food and works for treats but will shy away if she believes you are unhappy with her. She has been quite the jumper of baby gates so agility may be a great path for her and learning tricks may also be good for that smart mind of hers. She loves cuddling with both her foster fur siblings and with her people. She loves to cuddle under blankets next to her person at bedtime. She has a laid-back temperament and does well with small and medium dogs but has not been tested with large dogs or cats. She does get anxious in a crate when her people leave and has managed to get out of it a few times. When you come home, you will be greeted every time as if you were gone for a week, even if it was only an hour. With her puppy energy and fearful nature, she would be best in a home without small children. Her foster mom says she’s a great dog with so much potential and would readily adopt her if she didn’t already have a large pack. So if you’re looking for a dog that will steal your heart almost as quickly as she’ll steal your food, she is the girl for you.
