Coraline is a ten pound, one and a half year old Shih Tzu. She is good with small dogs, we are not sure about cats, and she would be best with no children. But mature kids ten and over should be ok. Coraline is a spunky little girl with lots of charm and personality. She loves her person but won’t be attached at the hip. An easy-going dog Coraline was rescued from severe neglect and is being treated for skin dermatitis as a result of a flea allergy. She is also Heartworm positive and is being treated with “slow kill” which involves a month of Doxycycline then one Heartguard pill a month. We are covering this cost, Coraline enjoys long walks, playing with all kinds of toys, and playing with dogs her size; big dogs scare her. She is not a fan of her crate but will reluctantly settle in for the night. She is mid to low energy, nearly housetrained, and is working on the leash training.  An Adult couple who can commit to her lifetime would be best. Her foster says she is a flight risk and will take off so she must be leashed and/ or have a very secure yard where she is not left unsupervised. Apply at crisisdogsnc.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls, no emails. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed assessments are based on visual appearances.
