Missy a is two-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, weighing about nine and a half pounds. Missy is not good with other dogs and not good with kids. However, she is good with cats. Missy is a darling purebred Yorkshire Terrier and if you know this breed, you know they are devoted to their person. Because of this Missy needs to be your only dog. Missy comes from significant abuse and has been traumatized so Missy needs an experienced adopter who is willing to work with her and accept her on her terms. Missy will bite if you try to pick her up. If you do not try to pick her up, she will feel safe with you and enjoy belly rubs and closeness. Her temporary foster writes: Missy lets me touch her feet, put her harness on, rub her ears, neck, body and face but if try to pick her up she will bite hard. So, I avoid that! She is calm around food-no guarding behaviors, and overall is a great companion in the house and yard. She is easy to walk on a leash and will need a good brisk walk through the day to expend her energy and most important to reduce her anxiety. She would do well with a single person or a couple in a quiet routine household. Until Missy adjusts, she will need someone who plans to be home most of the time, with no planned vacations. She would not do well with the Dogsitter at all until there is a period of time for Missy to become comfortable and understands, knows, and trusts her people and surroundings. All new people and prospective dog sitters introduced to Missy will need to understand Missy's routine, her personality, the importance of not violating her space, and her anxiety as a result of her past trauma prior to being introduced to Missy. If you are experienced with traumatized dogs and can work with this precious girl, please apply, Missy is healthy and fully vetted, but her emotional wounds are deep, and she needs a chance to heal and learn to trust. Missy is trained to use a pee pad and house trained. Missy should never be left outside alone, being outside alone can cause Missy anxiety unless it's a very safe, secure, quiet, and calm atmosphere, free of kids and other dogs.
