Pixie

***Urgent Foster or Adopter***
Pixie is a one-year-old, forty-pound, Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog mix. Pixie would be best with no small children, and as an only dog or a companion for a submissive female dog. Pixie's time is nearly up at a rural shelter. This beautiful gal loves people. However, Pixie is very terrified at the shelter where loud sounds and continual dog barking scares her, causing her tail to be between her legs most of the time.  Even still, Pixie will come up to you for a hug and cuddle when approached. We are guessing at Pixie's breed based on her coloring. She has a gorgeous coat and chocolate brown eyes, a lovely dog. Dominant dogs scare Pixie so she would do best as your only dog, or with a very low-key submissive female dog. Pixie will do well with kids ten and over, in a calm household that has a steady daily routine. Pixie will need comforting reassurance but once she trusts she will come back into her own. Apply on CrisisDogsNC.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls. Excellent vet reference and virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We prefer fenced yard, but this is not required for all our dogs. We transport by land or air whenever possible, and We do our best to provide transportation along the East Coast.
