Banjo

Banjo is a two-and-a-half-year-old Tree Walker Coonhound weighing approximately forty-five pounds. Banjo is fully vetted, gets along with older kids, and would be best as your only dog. Please be aware, Hounds require daily exercise and mental stimulation. Banjo is a sweet energetic boy who loves to play, has a constantly wagging tail, and is up for the next opportunity for fun. When Banjo's exuberance spills into rambunctiousness, he is easily redirected with a walk, chew toy, training exercises or time to settle in his crate. Banjo definitely aims to please! Banjo has a hard time reading dog social cues and lacks spatial awareness, which means he can provoke other dogs when he gets in their space. This is why we suggest Banjo be your only dog. Banjo is very friendly to kids and not surprised by children's often unpredictable behavior, but his strength and constant play drive could be overwhelming to some small children. Kids thirteen and over should be fine. This very intelligent dog is super responsive to training. An ideal dog in the making. We will offer suggestions. Banjo would do best with a fenced yard. Banjo is Heartworm positive, but asymptomatic and receiving treatment. Banjo is otherwise healthy. A hound-savvy home would be optimal for Banjo. Apply on CrisisDogsNC.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls. Excellent vet reference and virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We prefer fenced yard, but this is not required for all our dogs. We transport by land or air whenever possible.
