Sophie and Russell are bonded Golden Retrievers, eight and ten years old, weighing approximately sixty pounds each. Sophie and Russell don't do well with kids, other dogs, or cats. They are a deeply bonded pair who survived a hoarder's house fire last year. Sophie the larger of the two is a Labrador and Golden Retriever mix, and Russell is more of a pure Golden Retriever. Both are still traumatized after more than six months after being pulled from their burning house. They have not adapted to domestic life so far and require a "Special Needs Foster" who has a set up that would allow them free access to a secured outdoor and indoor area. Russell and Sophie will need their new foster to be patient with them and experienced with traumatized dogs. We can discuss Fostering Russell and Sophie at no cost to the foster; an Adoption fee is negotiable based on experience with traumatized dogs and the ability to house both dogs safely in a secured indoor and outdoor environment. Both dogs are healthy and fully vetted. Apply at crisisdogsnc.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls, no emails. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed assessments are based on visual appearances.
